Alan Zumbrunn Earns License

Alan Zumbrunn, a dedicated professional serving as the Department Manager of Survey Services, has recently attained his Professional Surveyor license for the state of Kansas.

Nearly Two Decades of Expertise

With a profound passion for mathematics and the great outdoors, Alan embarked on his journey in the surveying field back in 2006. For nearly two decades, he has been an unwavering presence behind the surveyor’s prism, driven by his fascination for both precision mathematics and the splendor of the natural world.

“Since I was a kid, math has always interested me,” Alan says. “And enjoying the outdoors makes my job even more incredible.”

To equip himself for this milestone, Alan pursued education at Kansas City, Kansas Community College. Over the years, he has lent his expertise to a multitude of projects, but his acquisition of the Kansas Professional Surveyor license stands as a pinnacle achievement.

“Obtaining my Kansas Professional Surveyor license is my top professional achievement to date,” Alan explains. “Although it was difficult, I look forward to obtaining more licenses as Kaw Valley Engineering expands and grows.”

Pathway at Kaw Valley Engineering

Alan’s trajectory at Kaw Valley Engineering began with a quest to align his career with his intrinsic interests and aspirations. Through steadfast dedication and relentless progression, he ascended the ranks to his present role as the Department Manager.

Throughout his tenure with the firm, Alan’s imprint is visible on an array of projects. Notably, the BNSF Railroad project stands out as a pivotal juncture in his career journey. Reflecting on this endeavor, Alan explains its significance.

“During my time at Kaw Valley Engineering, I was able to manage the competition of over 75 surveys along the BNSF Railroad,” Alan said. “The surveys covered a long distance between Emporia, KS and Wichita, KS.”

The orchestration of such expansive undertakings is not without its complexities. When delving into the factors facilitating success and the role of Kaw Valley Engineering in this process, Alan underscores a critical element.

“Collaboration,” Alan explains. “Collaborating with other surveyors is key to the success on these projects.”
