David Wood Promoted to Director of Engineering
David Wood, PE, has been named Kaw Valley Engineering’s new Director of Engineering.
David joined Kaw Valley Engineering in 2003 as an Intern Engineer after graduating from MIZZOU with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. He obtained his PE in 2007 and has since taken on many responsibilities and new roles such as firm Principal, Board of Directors Member and now Director of Engineering.
Today, David is a Civil Engineering Project Manager in the Lenexa office providing solutions and expertise on a broad range of site development related projects. His services include planning, entitlement assistance, preparation of construction documents and specifications and construction administration. David leverages his expertise as a Professional Transportation Operations Engineer (PTOE) to collaborate on a variety of traffic and roadway design projects firm wide.
David is currently working on multiple projects for local school districts in the Kansas City Metropolitan area including ground up construction of Canyon Highlands Elementary School in Lenexa as well as Walden Middle School, Hopewell Elementary School and the Park Hill LEAD Innovation Studio in the Northland.
When asked what he enjoys most about civil engineering, David responded with “it allows me to be creative while tackling problems with a common sense approach.” He said “I take satisfaction from being decisive and efficient during my execution of assigned projects.” Lastly, David concluded with “I enjoy relationship building with peers and clients and having the opportunity to collaborate on complex designs.”
