Engineers Obtain Idaho and Colorado PE Licenses
Matt Cross, PE, Project Manager in our Kansas City office and Randy Purdue, PE, Project Manager in our Junction City office, have recently obtained additional state licenses. Matt is now a professional engineer in Idaho and Randy is licensed in Colorado.
From the prairie to the mountains
Matt obtained a PE license in Idaho to help clients in expanding their reach westward. He explained, “I got my license in Idaho to support a potential client with projects in Kansas City and in Idaho.”
However, with every license earned in another region, there is a need for regional knowledge. Idaho’s topography is very different than the Midwest, a fact not lost on Matt.
“The topography of Idaho is interesting because it has mountains to contend with,” he said. “Stereotypically, it is more exciting in Idaho than Missouri with their mountains.”
Getting licensed in familiar territory
Randy got his Colorado state PE license recently. Much like Matt, Randy did this as a proactive move to help clients expanding westward. Several ongoing projects motivated Randy to get his license.
“I have been doing some work on ground water management districts in western Kansas,” Randy explains. “I could see some of this work continuing west into Colorado.”
However, it isn’t just work that brought Randy to Colorado to get his license. He explained, “I lived in Colorado for a few years and still have a lot of contacts out there.”
When discussing future licenses, Randy aspires to get licenses in Nebraska and Wisconsin as well as other states that surround Kansas.
