How Surveyors Use the Trimble SX10 Scanner
Our staff prides itself in developing creative approaches to complex projects. Each survey project is evaluated and analyzed to allocate the correct resources of both personnel and equipment to effectively meet project goals and customer expectations. Our surveyors recently used their creativity on a project in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kaw Valley Engineering is proud to have the capabilities to provide survey data on all types of projects, even the most unique locations. We are conscientious of the advancements being made in surveying technology, and utilize the latest instruments and equipment. One of those instruments is the Trimble SX10 Scanning Total Station. Our Kansas City office used this instrument to survey an engineered block retaining wall in the Union Hill neighborhood near Crown Center.
This instrument quickly creates a point cloud with millions of points of the retaining wall. The point cloud is, in essence, a three-dimensional rendering of the retaining wall that resembles a photo. The Trimble SX10 is also a Robotic Total Station, which allows us to collect data conventionally. This allows us to complete a project of this nature with one piece of equipment, and therefore saves our patrons money. It combines surveying, imaging and 3D scanning into one instrument, and helped collect data points of the retaining wall, which has multiple layers and varying textures along the wall.
We’re confident we can provide the highest quality of surveying services to all of our projects, no matter the type, and we’re able to do that with current technology and software like the Trimble SX10 Scanner.
Since inception in 1982, we have continuously analyzed and implemented advances in survey technology. Kaw Valley Engineering is staffed to accommodate all projects, from the smallest retaining wall to the largest development.
Company-wide, Kaw Valley Engineering boasts multiple Professional Surveyors with 15 survey crews, creating one of the largest survey departments in the area. For more about our surveying services, contact us or click here.
