Kansas Geotechnical Engineer Joins Board of Directors

Jessica Nixon, PE, has recently joined the Board of Directors at Kaw Valley Engineering, bringing over 15 years of experience to the table. Jessica’s journey began with a two-year stint as an intern in the field of structural engineering before joining KVE’s Geotechnical Engineering department in 2008, where she has remained ever since.

Jessica’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (2008) and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (2019) from the University of Kansas. She obtained her engineering licenses in Kansas (2013) and Missouri (2022).

Expressing her excitement about joining the Board of Directors, Jessica emphasized her desire for personal growth and the opportunities it would open for others. She stated, “I want to grow and challenge myself professionally. I want to learn more about the inner workings of Kaw Valley Engineering and wanted the Geotechnical and Testing departments represented on the board.”

Always looking ahead, Jessica is committed to contributing to the growth of Kaw Valley Engineering. She commented, “I want to make a positive impact on the company by representing the employees well. I also want to find new ways to bring in work and help our communities while staying competitive in this evolving industry.”

Throughout her career, Jessica has been involved in managing various projects, including geotechnical subsurface exploration, foundation and settlement analysis, laboratory testing, inspections, and Environmental Phase I reports. She has worked on diverse structures such as buildings, bridges, apartments, walls, towers, roadways, utilities, pavement, shoring, and slope stability.

When envisioning the future, Jessica shared her optimism, saying, “In the next ten years, I see Kaw Valley Engineering continuing to thrive. And I hope to see us expand our drilling capabilities in that time, too!”
