Kim Gfeller Completes Dale Carnegie Professional Development Course

EMPORIA, KANSAS—Kim Gfeller, Business Development Representative in our Emporia office, completed the Dale Carnegie professional development course through the Kansas Heartland Chapter of the organization in January. Kim has worked at Kaw Valley Engineering for three years.

The Dale Carnegie organization provides workplace training for professional development across the United States. The eight-week course Kim took focused on building self-confidence, strengthening leadership skills, communicating better and more.

“This course was hands down the most beneficial and influential course that I have taken,” Kim said. “My own self-confidence has been something I have always struggled with and after completing this class, it has drastically increased. I gained so many new skills that I can help implement not only in my area of career, but also share to help others in our company become a more effective and impactful leader.”

Earlier in the course, Kim also received the Human Relations Award for the demonstration and delivery of human relations principles. She was awarded the book Lincoln the Unknown by Dale Carnegie.

“This award meant a great deal to me because it shows that I am learning and growing by incorporating Dale Carnegie’s Principles into my interactions with coworkers, clients and friends each and every day,” Kim said. “I was voted to win this award by my fellow classmates and that meant so much to me!”

Kim also was awarded the Breakthrough Award and received an engraved Dale Carnegie pen. Both awards were based on votes from other individuals in the course.

After taking the Dale Carnegie course, Kim’s goals are to share the skills she learned with Kaw Valley Engineering. She also plans to take more courses with Dale Carnegie in the future.

“The Dale Carnegie course will help me in the future communicate more effectively with our staff as well as clients I work with daily,” Kim said. “It has given me more confidence in myself which will help me gain new clientele and strengthen those relationships with ones we already have.”
