Matt Rowe Passes PE Exam

Matt Rowe Becomes Licensed Engineer in Salina, Kansas

SALINA, KANSAS— Matt Rowe, former Engineer-in-Training in our Salina office, recently passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam and is now a licensed Professional Engineer in Kansas. Matt will now work as a Design Engineer in Salina on various types of projects.

Matt works on a variety of projects for Kaw Valley Engineering, like residential subdivision, KDOT BLP projects, fast food restaurants, retail stores office buildings and school additions. Now that he’s licensed, Matt hopes to expand his career.

“I would like to be licensed in additional states,” he said. “I look forward to becoming a project manager and having more of a leadership role within Kaw Valley Engineering. I also look forward to developing relationships with clients.”

He has held interest in engineering for a long time and felt getting into the field was natural.

“I enjoyed woodworking and building things growing up. Everything from the design to the building process interested me,” he said. “In high school. I went on several fishing trips with my grandpa and his friend that was a civil engineer and I would talk to him about his work and thought it sounded like something I would enjoy.”

The PE exam tests for competency in engineering. Individuals who wish to become a licensed Professional Engineer must take the exam plus gain at least four years of work experience.

“I interned for two summers while in college and have been working in the engineering field full time for the four years since graduation,” he said.

Matt completed his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University.
