Meet the Board Member: Jennifer Lindsley
Jennifer Lindsley, Director of Drafting Services, was recently nominated and elected to Kaw Valley Engineering’s Board of Directors. A valued employee of Kaw Valley Engineering since she was in high school, Jennifer’s story illustrates how employees at the firm can grow their individual careers and advance within the company.
Meet the Board Member: Jennifer Lindsley
Jennifer started at Kaw Valley Engineering as an intern in high school. She then got her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Management at Kansas State University. During that time, she transitioned to the IT Department at Kaw Valley Engineering and later became the Director of Drafting Services. Since then, Jennifer has been helping streamline both the drafting and IT departments for the firm.
Jennifer has been at Kaw Valley Engineering for almost 25 years. She explained that her addition to the Board seemed like a natural career path after her previous advancements within the company.
“I started when I was 17, so I wasn’t really thinking about working my way up to the Board of Directors,” she said. “But over the years on a daily basis, I’m helping people and working hard to make the company a better place, so this just seemed like a natural path.”
When asked how she’d balance her work between drafting, IT and the Board of Directors, Jennifer said she plans to work on delegating tasks to other employees and helping them expand their careers.
“I do wear many hats,” she said. “I already have to prioritize what tasks come first and things like that. I hope to mentor and delegate more tasks out and help others expand their career path as well. Hopefully, I’ve got to move aside on certain issues and allow others to come in and help as well.”
Jennifer’s goals for the firm in the future are to continue cultivating a great work environment for employees and expanding the Kaw Valley Engineering team. Jennifer is a well-respected employee who has not only grown her career at Kaw Valley Engineering, but also the firm itself, and we are enthusiastic for her addition to the Board of Directors.
“It’s a huge honor and pleasure,” Jennifer said. “Again, we have a great team and I want to do a good job for them.”
Along with Jennifer’s addition to the Board of Directors, Salina Office Director Justin Owens, PE, was elected to the Board. With their additions, Kaw Valley Engineering’s Board of Directors now includes: Leon Osbourn, PE, PS, President; Marty Arling, PE, Kansas City Office Director; Charles Sharp, Jr., Director of Operations; Gary Leeds, PE, Lenexa Office Director; Jason Loader, PS, Director of Surveying Services; Jennifer Lindsley; and Justin Owens.
