Patrick Siebert Obtains PS License

Combat Engineer to Professional Surveyor

Patrick Siebert Obtains PS License

Patrick Siebert, Survey Party Chief based in our Junction City office, obtained his Professional Surveyor license in the state of Kansas.

Giving Back to His Country

Serving our country for nearly twenty years in the United States Army, Patrick has background experiences many never witness. Retiring as a Sergeant First Class in 2017, Patrick felt military service was in his blood.

“Both of my grandfathers served in the military,” Patrick said. “I looked up to them and wanted to follow in their footsteps.”

Patrick was stationed at Ft. Stewart in Georgia before being transferred to Ft. Riley in Kansas. He spent his military career focusing on being a successful Combat Engineer. Patrick speaks about his experience with pride.

“I was a combat engineer focusing mainly on explosives and route clearance operations,” he explained. “I spent time overseas doing three combat tours in Iraq and two rotational deployments to Kuwait.”

In addition to his military service, Patrick is also a graduate from Great Basin College earning his Bachelor of Applied Science in Land Surveying and Geomatics.

A Career at Kaw Valley Engineering

Joining Kaw Valley Engineering in May of 2017, it seemed to be destiny.

“While I was stationed at Ft. Riley, I would see the maroon trucks of Kaw Valley Engineering all the time,” Patrick said. “So, when the time came to start my next career, I knew I would want to work somewhere busy like Kaw Valley Engineering.”

Given his experience, Patrick had his choice of career paths, but land surveying was his calling. Patrick finds the history of land surveying and working in the different environments where surveying is applied as his attraction to the field.

When discussing his future goals for his career at Kaw Valley Engineering, he looks forward to obtaining more knowledge.

“I look forward to expanding on the knowledge I already gained here,” he said. “Learning from the amazing professionals around me helps me stay on top of new things in our field.”

Getting a Kansas License and Beyond

Patrick has been successful in many projects at Kaw Valley Engineering. When you talk with him about some of his larger, more rememberable projects, he doesn’t hesitate.

“Working on US 69 and K-10 highways has been some of the big projects of mine,” Patrick said. “I also spent time on our borders working on the International Border.”

Although his career has given him an opportunity to be a part of several big projects, his biggest accomplishment to date is obtaining his license.

“Getting my professional surveyor license in Kansas is my biggest accomplishment to date,” he explained. “But to also get it so quickly is an extra accomplishment for me.”

Patrick is currently licensed in the state of Kansas. He has plans to obtain licensing in the states of Missouri and Texas as well.
