Seasoned Project Manager Returns to Kaw Valley Engineering
JUNCTION CITY – David Vermetten, PE, recently joined the ranks of Kaw Valley Engineering as a Project Manager. This is a homecoming for David after taking a hiatus from Kaw Valley Engineering to run his own business.
“I started my career at Kaw Valley Engineering nearly 20 years ago,” David said. “I left to run my own business for 13 years but I knew KVE was the place to land when I was ready to come back.”
David graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2003. He gained his license to practice engineering in Kansas (2007), Missouri (2009) and Oklahoma (2009). But he says coming back to Kaw Valley Engineering was his greatest achievement to date.
“I would say my greatest professional achievement would be running my own business,” David says. “However, with the support I have at Kaw Valley Engineering growing the structural division will be my greatest professional achievement.”
When you ask him about his future in the field, he says helping Kaw Valley Engineering grow is something he looks forward to the most.
“I look forward to growing the structural division at Kaw Valley Engineering and helping other offices with their structural needs,” David explains.
Talking about his return to Kaw Valley Engineering, it takes a very personal turn. He feels at home at KVE.
“The family atmosphere is what brought me back to Kaw Valley Engineering,” he says. “Leon (Osbourn) has been a mentor of mine for years.”
David has always had a passion for how things work and that is how he got into the field.
“I have always been interested in how things work,” he explained. “Structures just seem to speak to me.”
David is looking forward to building the structural division of Kaw Valley Engineering and is growing a team of experts to meet the needs of the community.
Since 1982, Kaw Valley Engineering has been the team of experts needed to help take a project from inception to completion, providing a full range of civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying, construction observation and materials testing services throughout the Midwest.
