Two City of Olathe Projects Receive APWA Awards

Two transportation projects in Olathe, Kansas recently received awards from the American Public Works Association. Having had the opportunity to work for the City of Olathe on these award-winning projects, we’re proud to see these projects recognized and appreciate our ongoing relationship with the City of Olathe.

The Lone Elm/Old 56 Improvement Project won the Kansas City Metro APWA Transportation Project of the Year Award within its funding range category, and the 119th Street and I-35 Improvement Project won the Project of the Year Award for its funding range category.

In a press release shared by the City of Olathe, City Engineer Nate Baldwin commented: “Flow of traffic and congestion management in Olathe consistently ranks as the top priority of Olathe citizens in our DirectionFinder survey. These projects provide significant reduction in traffic delays in both areas. I am proud of the hard work that our team put into delivering these great projects.”

At Kaw Valley Engineering, we provide our full range of services to many transportation projects and understand the importance of managing traffic flow and congestion for our communities.

We are proud to have served our client, the City of Olathe, on the completion of these two award-winning projects. As the on-call materials testing services consultant for the City of Olathe for about 20 years, we look forward to future innovative and exciting projects we can assist our client with in the years to come.
