Celebrating National CAD Day

Civil Engineering Firm in Kansas

Why CADD Technicians Are Important

National CAD Day is August 2 and celebrates computer-aided design, which is used extensively in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. CADD Technicians help increase convenience and productivity for the AEC industry, and we’re thankful to have many dedicated technicians at Kaw Valley Engineering.

We asked a few Project Managers about their experience working with CADD Technicians at Kaw Valley Engineering.

Project Managers, like engineers and surveyors, often work with CADD Technicians on a day-to-day basis.

“I am discussing project plans and requirements with a technician on a daily basis and appreciate their feedback and insightfulness,” one of our Project Managers said.

CADD Technicians use specialized drafting software to help in computer modeling, like AutoCAD. Having drafters who understand and are proficient in computer-aided design software helps our staff work more efficiently for our clients.

“AutoCAD and other programs are very elaborate and having drafters that can efficiently use these programs to provide a high-quality product is important,” said another Project Manager.

In addition to assisting Project Managers with producing plans and designs for various projects, our CADD Technicians are also instrumental in producing high-quality products that keep up with others in the industry.

“I would argue that the plans produced by our team are as responsible for the firm’s reputation as any other factor. Architects, contractors, city officials and others in the industry often base their impressions of Kaw Valley Engineering on the plans they see.”

Without CADD Technicians, our work would not be completed as fast, accurate or precise as it is today: “Technicians make work faster, simpler and clearer.”
